I guess that means I'll have to get out on my bike a bit more often.

Ah, well. At least we're starting to get the right weather for it!-

You could always leave the bike at home and jog...

With my knees?

Due to arthritis and a childhood bout of Osgood Schlata's Disease it has to be minimum-impact exercises like swimming or cycling for me. I really can't risk too much jogging or running.
I used to really enjoy a good long bike ride. Heck, my favourite pub used to be a good 30 mile ride from my front door to the bar! I can't do that any more, though. I just sort of got out of the habit.
Thinking about it now, I was a lot happier back then, so maybe there is some truth behind this exercise as therapy.-

I'm sure there's some truth in it... I always feel better when I out and about walking.

I suppose I ought to get my bike out too... used to ride 10 to 12 miles nearly every day and a lot more at weekends. Like you, I got out of the habit and the very thought of it now fills me with a kind of dread.

I once worked with a very proper lady who saw a very posh doctor in Harley Street for her depression and he prescribed long bracing walks, and lots of them. At least once a day - if not twice. I'm not saying posh doctors are better than your average GP, I'm just saying you can shell-out shedloads and get exactly this advice.
I had a miserable time last year. Two very dear friends of mine died, one very suddenly. And I can honestly say running helped me enormously. I would even go running really early in the morning so no one could see me running (because it was dark!) I was that miz. Even now it helps me shake off the week and all that fresh air has to be good for you.
Really, even if it's the last thing you feel like doing. Going for a walk can't make you feel any worse. -

I truly believe that going for walks is a good cure for that sort of thing. It is hard to be sad when surrounded by fresh air light and the beauty of nature. Even walking at night, the beauty of the stars and the lady moon of course is breathtaking. You an take a lot of joy out of seeing the pleasure and fun a dog gets out of going for a walk it raises the spirits I think.

I honestly believe this is true as when I diet and go on one of my exercise kicks I feel alot better and if I just lounge around it does give you too much time to dwell and get depressed
